Claudia, founder and executive director, was inspired to create an organization after several years of STEAM integrated experience.
Similar to others in the field of education, Claudia wondered why there were so few opportunities in place to help Elementary School students and their teachers learn and teach science. She knew that many Elementary School educators would be able to enhance their elementary education if only they had a little support.
Claudia became involved with the Florida Museum of Natural History, first as a web designer in the office of museum technology, and then as a graduate student and science education expert through the Vertebrate Paleontology department. During her time at the University of Florida, she earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with focus in Educational Technology, and a graduate minor in Geological Sciences.
She was the project manager for 3 NSF-funded projects that consisted of professional development for secondary science educators.
“Starting a nonprofit that helps increase the quality of Elementary School education is inspiring and needed. Thanks to the generous support I’ve received throughout my Ph.D., I am eager to give back. I can’t wait to see the good that we’ll accomplish together in the future!”– Claudia Vargas-Vergara, Ph.D.
